IU, Suzy, Ong Seong Wu, And More Donate To Help Victims Of Heavy Rains And Floods
Celebrities are continuing to support those affected by Korea’s ongoing heavy rains and flooding.
After Korea’s rainy season started in June, torrential rains have been inundating the country in record amounts. These monsoon rains concentrated in Korea’s central and southern regions have flooded residential areas, causing thousands to evacuate.
On August 11, the Korea Disaster Relief Association revealed that IU has made a donation of 100 million won (approximately $84,400) to aid the victims of the heavy rainfall and floods. IU is known for making continuous donations, and she donated in May to help low-income families during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Suzy has made a generous donation as well. OSEN reported on August 11 that Suzy quietly donated 100 million won to the Korea Disaster Relief Association. Suzy is another celebrity who often donates. Recently, proceeds from her beauty book were used towards sanitary products for low-income young women in Korea.
According to Starnews, Ong Seong Wu donated 10 million won (approximately $8,440) through the Korea Disaster Relief Association to aid in restoring areas damaged by the floods. A representative from his agency Fantagio said, “It’s true that Ong Seong Wu has donated. When he usually donates, he’s the type to do so without informing us, so the company didn’t know about his donation.”
On August 11, the Korea Disaster Relief Association shared that Park Ji Hoon also donated 10 million won with the hope that his donation will help victims recover from flood damage. It’s reported that he made the donation directly to the association himself rather than through his agency.
Furthermore, Han Ji Min contributed 50 million won (approximately $42,200) through the Korea Disaster Relief Association to help victims. In March, the actress made a thoughtful donation toward COVID-19 prevention efforts.
