TREASURE's Bang Ye Dam Talks About Training At YG For 7 Years After "K-Pop Star 2"
In a recent interview, TREASURE’s Bang Ye Dam shared his thoughts on debuting after seven long years of training!
Bang Ye Dam first joined YG Entertainment as a trainee in 2013, after winning second place on SBS’s audition program “K-Pop Star 2.” Seven years later, he has finally made his debut as a member of the agency’s new boy group TREASURE.
Reflecting on his time as a trainee, Bang Ye Dam remarked, “I joined the agency as a trainee after ‘K-Pop Star 2’ and went through a lot over the years, but I was able to further strengthen my baseline skills [during that time].”
Although he was already famous when he entered the agency, Bang Ye Dam shared, “During my trainee period, I went through the exact same training process as all the other members.”
He also humbly noted, “Although I trained for a long time, it wasn’t just me: all of the members prepared for a long time. That’s why we were able to improve and grow even more, and all of the members were able to prepare things outside of their main focus [such as vocals, dance, or rap].”
“All of the members improved a lot, including me,” he went on, “and I think that we all probably feel proud when we see how much the others have grown. I think that all of the members were cast [by the agency] because they showed potential, and then we trained together.”
Prior to his debut with TREASURE earlier this month, Bang Ye Dam kicked off his career by releasing the solo single “WAYO.” Speaking fondly of the song, he commented, “I was happy to be able to release a solo song as part of the TREASURE project before my debut.”
Immediately after TREASURE’s debut with their first single album “THE FIRST STEP : CHAPTER ONE” on August 7, their title track “BOY” shot to the top of iTunes charts in multiple countries all over the world, and their music video for the song has also been racking up views at an impressive speed.
