Mijoo Talks About Lovelyz's Upcoming Comeback, Why Lee Hyori Is Her Role Model, And More

Lovelyz’s Mijoo rocked sporty and retro looks for the September issue of Pilates S magazine!

Taking on the concept of “Back to the Fever of Generation X,” Mijoo showed off styles from the past in an homage to her role model Lee Hyori‘s “newtro” group SSAK3.

Mijoo shared her thoughts on how SSAK3 is bringing back the ’90s to the music scene. “As someone who is a big fan of ’90s music, I’m extremely happy,” she said. “I want to become an artist that people will remember for a long time like SSAK3. They set an example for junior artists, and they influence me to reflect on myself.”

She continued, “To my fans, I want to become someone like Lee Hyori, who can do everything from performances to variety shows. In particular, Lee Hyori shows off her fierce side when she performs ’10 Minutes’ and ‘U-Go-Girl,’ and that makes me want to do even better onstage. I also want to be deep in the hearts of my fans forever as an artist with a long career who receives lots of love.”

Mijoo also talked about Lovelyz’s upcoming comeback with their seventh mini album “Unforgettable” on September 1. She explained why the group is returning for the first time in a year and four months since their last comeback. “It took a lot of time to pick our title track since we were putting a lot of thought into it,” Mijoo said. “Our members just found out what the title track will be even though there aren’t many days left before we release our album.”

She mentioned that Lovelyz’s newest concept will be completely different from what they’ve done before. “I’m honestly very nervous and excited to see how our fans will react,” Mijoo said. “To give a small hint, we’ll be moving on from our lovely and girlish image and showing off the vibes of a mature woman.”
