Ku Hye Sun Talks About The Meaning Of Her New Album, Using Art To Express Herself, Future Plans, And More

Ku Hye Sun has released new music for the first time in five years.

On September 2, Ku Hye Sun released her third new-age piano album “Breath 3.” This is her first release since “Breath 2” in 2015.

When asked what kind of album “Breath 3” is, Ku Hye Sun shared, “It’s an album I made while remembering the especially fresh spring air of 2020. It contains the nervous excitement of a new dream and a new start. If my past albums dealt with the meaning of life’s seasons and death, this album deals with the refreshing emotions in life.”

As she’s now released a trilogy of “Breath” albums, she spoke about the meaning of this term, sharing, “Breathing is music and my music holds the meaning of breathing. It’s my wish that my music is as comfortable and necessary as breathing.”

After working as an actress, artist, director, and more, Ku Hye Sun shared how she came to use music as another way to express herself. She explained, “You don’t have to explain music in words and music has the mysterious power of sharing emotion. Since everyone loves and embraces music, I thought, ‘I have to promote with music.’ I think that out of all my projects, this may be the one that holds my desire to communicate with the public the most. I hope ‘Breath 3’ can transfer the hopeful excitement I felt in 2020 to the public.”

Amidst other art projects and attending school, Ku Hye Sun was asked how she manages her busy day-to-day life. She commented, “These days, I spend each day very busily. I’ve substantially minimized my sleep time to about two hours a day and I just keep working. I’m writing and working on art for my exhibition scheduled for next year. There’s a lot I need to work on so I’ve been dividing up my time well. I’ll set my alarm for two hours and even if I’m just dozing off, I’ll sleep two hours and then wake up to work. Despite this, I am overflowing with happiness that I get a start fresh and can work.”

Regarding her future plans, Ku Hye Sun shared, “First, I’m scheduled to be a judge at the 22nd Bucheon International Animation Festival. I’m not sure when they’ll be completed, but I am preparing to produce videos for the ‘Breath’ series. I’m also preparing diligently for my exhibition next year. I’ve been reviewing television projects and plan to discuss them in detail. For the time being, I plan to greet everyone through my artwork and other various work.”

Lastly, when asked what she would like to say to fans and the public, Ku Hye Sun responded, “I think that this confusing and chaotic time has inevitably led to a lot of hardships for everyone. I really hope this music brings you comfort. I hope to greet you again in good health.”
