Yong Junhyung Transfers To Role Of Public Service Worker After Knee Injury In Military
Former Highlight member Yong Junhyung has been taken off active duty in the military due to a knee injury, and he is now a public service worker.
On September 25, Around Us Entertainment wrote in a statement, “Yong Junhyung enlisted in the army as an active soldier on April 2, 2019. While he was earnestly fulfilling his duty, during his training he had to have surgery due to a meniscus injury in his left knee.”
The agency continued, “He continued to carry out his duty while receiving rehabilitation treatments, but as his condition did not improve, he underwent evaluation according to the military’s procedures. It was determined that he was unfit for active duty, and so during his service as an active-duty soldier he was transferred to being a public service worker.”
Korean men who are evaluated as unable to serve their mandatory military service as active-duty soldiers but not fully exempt from service are assigned to roles as public service workers, in which they work at public facilities or government offices.
Around Us Entertainment stated that Yong Junhyung has been a public service worker since June 15, 2020, and he will continue to earnestly fulfill his military duty in the role until he is discharged.
