Kim Hyung Jun's Accuser Receives Prison Sentence For False Accusation And Defamation
The woman who accused SS501’s Kim Hyung Jun of sexual assault has been sentenced to prison.
In March 2019, a woman accused Kim Hyung Jun of sexually assaulting her in May 2010. In response, Kim Hyung Jun filed a lawsuit against the accuser for false accusation and defamation. The singer also strongly denied the allegations during questioning by the police, saying that the relationship between the two was consensual. In June 2019, the police forwarded the case with a recommendation of non-indictment for Kim Hyung Jun due to a lack of evidence. The accuser went to trial on charges of false accusation and defamation.
On September 29, Kim Hyung Jun’s agency confirmed that the woman who had accused Kim Hyung Jun has been sentenced to eight months in prison. That was announced on September 25 during a sentencing trial at the Goyang branch of the Uijeongbu District Court.
It’s reported that the woman has continued to defame Kim Hyung Jun online. With Kim Hyung Jun’s image harmed and rumors and defamation continuing since the original accusation, he’s reportedly experienced considerable financial and psychological damage.
His agency SDKB told Maeil Business Newspaper that they are considering filing a compensation claim against her. They will also continue to collect evidence of malicious rumors, false statements, and defamation and will take strong action.
In addition, a source from his agency told YTN Star, “Currently, Kim Hyung Jun is working as a producer and training a new group. He’s also working as a singer himself.” They added, “He’s planning to hold a Japanese online concert at the end of October.”
