Mnet Announces Owen's Departure From "Show Me The Money 9" After His Marijuana Controversy
Rapper Owen will no longer be part of Mnet’s “Show Me the Money 9.”
On October 20, Mnet stated to DongA.com, “Owen, whose marijuana case has been turned over to prosecutors, will be leaving ‘Show Me the Money 9.’ All of Owen’s footage in the broadcast will be edited out completely. The footage that has already been broadcast in the first episode will also be removed and the episode will be re-edited.”
A day earlier, Channel A had reported that Nafla, Loopy, BLOO, Owen, and Young West, five artists from the agency MKIT Rain Records, had been caught by the police last year after using marijuana. Their agency released an official statement confirming that the artists had admitted to smoking marijuana in 2019 during the investigation and that four of the artists had received a suspension of indictment in July 2020, with Young West’s trial currently ongoing.
Owen had appeared in the premiere episode of “Show Me the Money 9,” which aired on October 16, and had received the necklace that meant he would pass to the next round.
