Update: Lee Hyori's Agency Clarifies That She Was Joking About Returning In 5 Years
Updated November 2 KST:
After Lee Hyori’s message to fans about returning in five years caused a flurry of speculation, her agency spoke up to clear up the confusion.
A source from ESteem Entertainment stated to SPOTV NEWS, “It was a video she sent to fans to thank them for supporting her while she was promoting as part of Refund Sisters. She was only joking when she said she’d see them in five years. She was saying things like, ‘If five years is too long, how about three years?'” The agency also said to No Cut News, “It was like a role play. There is no meaning behind her saying, ‘See you in five years.'”

Lee Hyori got fans guessing with a promise as she prepares to wrap up her promotions with Refund Sisters!
Refund Sisters is a project girl group formed on MBC’s “How Do You Play?” after Lee Hyori mentioned her ideal girl group on the show. For the past few months, Lee Hyori has been active as “Linda G” in the ’90s-themed co-ed group SSAK3 (with Yoo Jae Suk and Rain) and as “Chun Ok” in Refund Sisters (with Uhm Jung Hwa, Jessi, and MAMAMOO’s Hwasa).
In the preview for next week’s episode of “How Do You Play?”, it was revealed that the episode would show Refund Sisters wrapping up their promotional activities.
Recently, Lee Hyori shared a video in a Fin.K.L online community. In the video, she said, “This is Fin.K.L’s leader, Lee Hyori. I’m currently working hard as Chun Ok. Today is the last day of filming. I will greet you all again five years from now. Please don’t forget about me until then. Thank you very much to those who supported and cheered me on during my promotions as Linda and Chun Ok.”
The promise to return in “five years” sparked a flurry of speculation among fans and media outlets. After a successful career as a Fin.K.L member and solo artist, Lee Hyori took a hiatus for a few years around the time of her marriage. She currently lives on Jeju Island with her husband, Lee Sang Soon.
Near the end of her promotions for SSAK3 earlier this summer, Lee Hyori also shared that she and her husband had plans to try for a baby.
