Watch: Moon Ga Young, ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo, And More Show Chemistry And Pick "True Beauty" Key Points
Upcoming tvN drama “True Beauty” has released a behind-the-scenes video from the cast’s poster shoot!
Based on a popular webtoon of the same name, “True Beauty” is a romantic comedy about Lim Ju Gyeong, a cheerful and optimistic high school student who uses makeup to deal with her insecurities about her appearance. She’s determined to hide her bare face from the world, so she tends to overdo her makeup.
The clip begins with each cast member introducing their characters. Moon Ga Young plays Lim Ju Gyeong, and ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo portrays the cold and selfish Lee Su Ho. Hwang In Yeop plays the handsome Han Seo Joon, and Park Yoo Na plays Kang Su Jin, a star at their high school known for her pretty looks.
When asked how she prepared for her role, Moon Ga Young explains that she can’t share too much in case she gives a spoiler. With a giggle, she adds that her “bare face” is extremely similar to her character’s in the webtoon.
Cha Eun Woo is asked the same question and he shares, “I have a lot of scenes doing jiu jitsu so I learned that. There are also some scenes where I play basketball,” before asking whether that’s something he’s allowed to share. He continues, “I’ve been practicing basketball so I can film well.”
Regarding his character Han Seo Joon, Hwang In Yeob explains, “Seo Joon has a lot to do. He’s good at singing, can ride a motorcycle, and uses his body well. These days, I’ve been practicing my vocals a lot.”
Park Yoo Na talks about her similarities to her character, saying, “I think our personalities are quite similar, including the way we talk and the way she’s written in the script. The first thought I had was, ‘I’ll just have to act like myself.'”
The cast are also asked which scene in the webtoon they found most memorable. Moon Ga Young shares, “For me, there’s Ju Gyeong’s bare face and makeup methods, but what is most memorable are Su Ho and Seo Joon’s faces. I was surprised every time I saw them.”
Cha Eun Woo picks Su Ho’s first meeting with Ju Gyeong at a comic book cafe and explains, “It’s a place where their hobbies overlap. It’s the most memorable scene and one that I’m excited about.”
The cast also showed off their close friendship while filming, with Cha Eun Woo jokingly commenting, “[Be] More lovely.” Moon Ga Young responds, “Was I lacking?” and he answers, “I’ll monitor it.”
For the drama’s key point, Moon Ga Young shares, “Ju Gyeong’s story can be anyone’s and as her role gets bigger, wouldn’t the key point be that you can receive love and encouragement?” Cha Eun Woo gives a short and sweet answer by saying, “From start to finish, all of it!”
After, Moon Ga Young and Cha Eun Woo are looking over their photos when Cha Eun Woo asks to see photos of Ju Gyeong’s bare face. Moon Ga Young tells him, “You’re gonna be so surprised. Because it’s cute.” As he looks at the photo, Moon Ga Young jokes, “You’d better manage your facial expression well.”
