Watch: Refund Sisters Says Goodbye In Their Final Appearance On "How Do You Play?"
On November 14, MBC’s “How Do You Play?” aired its final episode with the project group Refund Sisters.
In this episode, the four members of Refund Sisters (Uhm Jung Hwa/Man Ok, Lee Hyori/Chun Ok, Jessi/Eun Bi, Hwasa/Sil Bi) attended their final official event at a baseball game. Although the stadium was not full due to social distancing guidelines, fans let out a rousing cheer for the group.
After Refund Sisters performed their track “Don’t Touch Me,” Lee Hyori and Jessi kicked off the game as the starting batter and pitcher. Lee Hyori had received a special lesson from Jimmy Yoo (Yoo Jae Suk) before going up as starting batter, but Jessi accidentally threw the ball toward her face, causing her to dodge.
On their way to the Olympic Gymnastics Arena (KSPO Dome), Lee Hyori asked if Jimmy Yoo was reverting back to Yoo Jae Suk. Jessi said, “I like Jimmy Yoo better.” Uhm Jung Hwa said, “Thanks to Refund Sisters, I spent a happy and fun summer and autumn. I feel like I’ve been healed.”
As only the members could enter the arena, Yoo Jae Suk said, “The managers will have to say goodbye here.” Lee Hyori said, “If we come together again, you’ll be with us again right?” Jung Jae Hyung said, “We’ll have to stay healthy for that.” Kim Jong Min said, “I enjoyed being your manager.” Lee Hyori said, “Let’s be friends now” and hugged him.
Hwasa, who has always remained calm throughout Refund Sisters’ promotions, suddenly said, “I hate this sort of thing” and showed signs of holding back tears. Jessi teared up and said, “Where are you going? Why are you like this, Jimmy Yoo? Stay here.” After some more hugs and tears, Lee Hyori got things moving again by saying briskly, “Are we going to say goodbye all night?” The managers and members shook hands and promised to meet again.
The members were at the KSPO Dome because it had been Refund Sisters’ dream to put on a concert together. Due to social distancing guidelines, the four members were the only ones in the arena. Lee Hyori said, “Let’s pretend this place is full of audience members.” In the middle of the song, the members were shocked to hear the sound of cheering and fans singing along played over the speakers. Uhm Jung Hwa and Jessi teared up again, while Lee Hyori and Hwasa smiled in joy.
After the performance ended, Lee Hyori comforted the members and said, “We really wanted to perform. We really missed this sound, right?” Jessi joked, “It felt like zombies were going to come out. It was scary.” Hwasa added, “I thought there were ghosts in the arena.”
Uhm Jung Hwa said, “I was really happy. Thank you so much.” Hwasa was moved by her words and Lee Hyori said, “This is the first time I’ve seen Hwasa cry.” Jessi said, “I really want to see our fans. It was an honor to stand on the same stage as Uhm Jung Hwa.”
At the end, the members bid a farewell to their audience with Uhm Jung Hwa’s “Ending Credit.”
Later in the episode, Uhm Jung Hwa and Jung Jae Hyung visited Lee Hyori and Lee Sang Soon in their home on Jeju Island. Jung Jae Hyung wanted advice on the song that he was working on, and Lee Hyori fulfilled her dream of singing a duet like “My Ear’s Candy” with her husband.
Back in Seoul, Yoo Jae Suk made some ramyun with Kim Jong Min, who asked if their management agency had shut down. More seriously, the two talked about their respect for each other as entertainers. Kim Jong Min said, “He’s like a teacher to me.” Yoo Jae Suk said, “We started a variety show together but it was only for a short time.” Yoo Jae Suk recollected the time that an elderly woman had not recognized him on “Infinite Challenge” but had recognized Kim Jong Min on “2 Days & 1 Night.”
Kim Jong Min said, “I’m happy and comfortable right now, but I’m worried that I’ll continue like this. I’m not married and I don’t have any kids. I’m worried about what happens after my family are all gone. If I continue like this, I’ll be alone. I think I’ll be so lonely.” Yoo Jae Suk said, “You should meet someone,” but Kim Jong Min said, “If a close friend introduces me to someone, and it doesn’t go well, then that’s awkward.”
At the end, Yoo Jae Suk said, “Let’s not set a date for when we come back [as managers] again.” Kim Jong Min agreed and said, “Let’s let it happen naturally.”
