SM's New Girl Group aespa Shares Their Thoughts On Upcoming Debut + Announces Fan Club Name
On November 17, just ahead of the release of “Black Mamba” at 6 p.m. KST, SM Entertainment’s new girl group aespa shared statements about their upcoming debut.
aespa is a four-member girl group under SM Entertainment with a futuristic “avatar” concept. Their debut single, “Black Mamba,” is said to be a powerful dance song with a signature synth sound, a strong bass, and a catchy hook like the chanting of a spell. The song’s lyrics introduce the unique world of aespa in a storyline in which “Black Mamba” is the villain threatening the world and blocking the connection between the aespa members and their “æ” avatars.
In statements released by SM Entertainment, Karina said, “I still can’t believe it’s real. I can feel the pressure, but the feelings of wanting to show the world a good song and a good performance are even stronger.”
Giselle said, “It feels so new and strange. The fact that so many people are showing interest in us makes me want to work harder. I want to keep showing how I can change.”
Winter said, “I’m excited and nervous to be showing everyone the performance that I have practiced for so long. I aim to become someone who can show people a bright and positive image as aespa’s Winter.”
Ningning said, “I’m so grateful for the people who cheered us on with every new teaser that dropped. I really want to stand on stage as soon as possible and sing and dance. aespa will show a great performance, so I hope everyone will enjoy it with us.”
Various outlets also reported that through aespa’s V Live channel, SM Entertainment had confirmed that aespa’s fan club would be known as “MY” (pronounced like the English word), which means “my precious friend.”
“Black Mamba” will be released on various music sites at 6 p.m. KST on November 17. The music video will also be released simultaneously on SM Entertainment’s YouTube and NaverTV channels.
