Member Of Rising Girl Group Moves Panelist To Tears With Her Emotional Performance On "The King Of Mask Singer"

On the November 22 episode of MBC’s “The King of Mask Singer,” four contestants performed for the chance to challenge Stove Cat in his quest for his fifth consecutive win.

The second match-up of Round 2 was between “Yabala” and “Bubble Gum.” “Bubble Gum” sang As One’s “I Want You and Resent You” and showcased her emotional vocal expression and the purity and clarity of her vocal tone. “Yabala” sang BLACKPINK’s “How You Like That” and impressed the panelists with his soulful interpretation and delicate intonation.

After her performance, As One’s Lee Min, who was on the show as a panelist, was moved to tears. She said, “It’s moving for me when singers cover our songs, but Bubble Gum sang it so well that I was shocked. It was an unforgettable performance.” Yoo Young Seok said, “Listening to Bubble Gum sing, she brought out the truth of the song. This is a weapon that surpasses even perfect technique.”

In the end, “Yabala” advanced to the next round and Bubble Gum unmasked to reveal herself as LOONA’s Kim Lip.

After her unmasking, Kim Lip shared that she was a huge fan of WINNER’s Kang Seung Yoon, who was also on the show as a panelist. “The first idol group I liked was WINNER,” she said. “When we danced together on stage earlier, I was so nervous.”

Kang Seung Yoon said, “I really enjoyed your performance. I talked with Yoo Young Seok about how good you were. I wasn’t able to vote for you, but I said to him that you gave me goosebumps.”

Kim Lip also shared, “As soon as it was confirmed that I was going on the show, the members teased me and said, ‘You have to become the champion.’ I wanted to be the champion, but since such an amazing senior artist is the champion right now, I tried to bring out the best in the songs I had prepared.”

Later, on Twitter, Kim Lip wrote, “Whenever I watched the other members on ‘The King of Mask Singer,’ I thought about how nervous I would be if I had to stand on that stage. I prepared As One’s song ‘I Want You and Resent You,’ but I had no idea that As One’s Lee Min would be on the show. I was so nervous. I was grateful that she was moved to tears by my song. I never dreamed that I would be able to move people to tears, so I sang with even more sincerity. I was eliminated in Round 2, but I was so happy that people gave me so much praise.”
