Popular Spanish Crime Drama Series 'Money Heist' Confirmed For Korean Remake

“Money Heist,” also known as “The House of Paper” (“La Casa de Papel”), will be getting a Korean remake!

“Money Heist” is a Spanish crime drama series about a group of people who undertake a heist on the Royal Mint of Spain, led by a criminal mastermind called the Professor. Netflix acquired the global streaming rights in 2017 and has aired four seasons of the show thus far.

Back in June, it was reported that BH Entertainment and Content ZIUM were in talks for a Korean remake of the series.

On December 1, it was confirmed that the show would be remade as a Korean production. It will feature a similar plot of a group of people with various talents under the direction of a criminal mastermind, but it will be set in Korea.

Álex Pina, the executive producer of “Money Heist,” said, “For several years, Korean content has crossed national boundaries and captivated audiences around the globe with its unrivaled composition and culture, just as ‘Money Heist’ has now. That is why we were attracted to the potential of a Korean version of ‘Money Heist.’ I am excited to see what will happen when this case unfolds against the backdrop of the Korean peninsula.”

The remake will be directed by Kim Hong Sun, who is known as a master of “genre” (e.g. sci-fi, horror, crime thriller) dramas and has directed several shows for OCN, including “Son: The Guest,” “Voice,” and “Black.” The script will be written by Ryu Yong Jae and his team, who wrote the tvN drama “Psychopath Diary.” BH Entertainment (“A Single Rider,” “Miss Baek”) and Content ZIUM (“Itaewon Class,” “Go Back Couple,” “More than Friends,” “Run On”) will be co-producers.

Details such as the casting, title, and filming schedule will be announced at a later date.

Are you excited for the remake? Who would you like to see starring in it?
