Twitter Announces Most-Tweeted K-Pop Accounts Of 2020
On December 8, Twitter shared an analysis of accounts and tweets from users all over the world in 2020. Along with the hashtag “This Happened,” Twitter revealed a ranking of the most-tweeted K-pop accounts in 2020 globally.
This year, BTS (@BTS_twt) became the Most-Tweeted Account, Most-Tweeted K-pop Account, and Most-Tweeted Musician Account globally. Since 2017, this is the fourth consecutive year in which BTS has become the most-tweeted account.
BTS also placed No. 2 under the list for Most-Retweeted Tweet. The post with Jungkook’s cover video of Lauv’s “Never Not” has a total of 35 million views, 1.6 million retweets, and 3 million hearts. This is the most-retweeted tweet following the tweet of actor Chadwick Boseman’s passing.
Among K-pop related tweets, the top five tweets with the most amount of likes all came from BTS’s twitter account. In first place is a post made by BTS’s V, who shared, “Hi Army,” along with two photos, which received 3.2 million likes.

In second and third place are Jungkook’s cover video tweets, and in fourth place is a post of BTS expressing their joy with ARMY for becoming the first Korean artist to top Billboard’s Hot 100. No. 5 is a post RM wrote to celebrate his birthday.
The second most-tweeted K-pop account around the world is EXO (@weareoneEXO). EXO’s Suho and Kai garnered a lot of attention this year when they announced their solo activities. In March, Suho held a Twitter Blueroom live to celebrate his solo promotions, and the tweet announcing Kai’s solo debut received 310,000 likes and 140,000 retweets.
In third place for Most-Tweeted K-pop accounts globally is BLACKPINK (@BLACKPINK). The group also placed No. 7 among Most-Tweeted Musicians worldwide. Following BLACKPINK in the list of Most-Tweeted K-pop accounts is SEVENTEEN (@pledis_17) at No. 4, GOT7 (@GOT7Official) at No. 5, NCT 127 (@NCTsmtown_127) at No. 6, TXT (@TXT_members) at No. 7, ATEEZ (@ATEEZofficial) at No. 8, TREASURE (@treasuremembers) at No. 9, and Stray Kids (@Stray_Kids) at No. 10.
Furthermore, upon an analysis of keywords mentioned, the Top 10 Musicians worldwide were BTS at No. 1 and BLACKPINK at No. 7. Along with the two groups, at No. 2 is Kanye West, No. 3 Beyoncé, No. 4 Rihanna, No. 5 Justin Bieber, No. 6 Cardi B, No. 8 Drake, No. 9 Ariana Grande, and No. 10 Taylor Swift.
Earlier in September this year, Twitter and K-pop Radar shared an analysis on K-pop data using tweets made across the globe for 10 years, revealing a #KpopTwitter 2020 World Map. According to the data, a total of 6.1 billion K-pop related tweets were made in the past year. The data also included graphs depicting the change in K-pop over the world as well as lists of most-mentioned K-pop artists, fastest-rising K-pop artists, and more.
