2020 SBS Drama Awards Wins Tight Ratings Competition Against 2020 KBS Drama Awards And 2020 MBC Music Festival
As always on December 31, it was a tight ratings competition between three major awards shows on all three public broadcast channels (KBS, SBS, and MBC).
On December 31, the 2020 SBS Drama Awards, the 2020 KBS Drama Awards, and the 2020 MBC Music Festival aired on the same night. According to Nielsen Korea, the 2020 SBS Drama Awards came out on top with average nationwide ratings of 4.8, 5.3, and 6.7 percent. The 2020 KBS Drama Awards garnered ratings of 4.3 and 3.0 percent, while the 2020 MBC Music Festival garnered ratings of 5.4 and 4.3 percent.
All three awards shows had relatively similar ratings, with the 2020 SBS Drama Awards coming out with a slight edge with over 6 percent in the third part. However, the 2020 SBS Drama Awards was also the only ceremony of the night to get higher ratings in its final part, as awards shows tend to run very late into the night.
TV Chosun’s “Miss Trot 2,” which aired as usual, recorded average ratings of 27 percent, while JTBC’s “Run On” recorded ratings of 2.7 percent.
