Jo Yoon Hee Talks About Her Daughter, How Fostering Animals Gave Her Confidence, And More
On the January 7 episode of SBS’s “The Dog I Encountered,” Jo Yoon Hee opened up about her daughter, Ro Ah, and her love of animals.
Asked about why she takes care of abandoned pets or disabled pets, she replied, “If I were to be honest, I’m someone who has low self-confidence. I often think to myself, ‘Why isn’t there anything special that I’m good at?’ There are so many things that I want to do, but when my skills fall short, I get depressed. But when I provide foster care for abandoned animals, they became happier and undergo positive changes and find new families. Or I adopt them and take care of them for the rest of their lives, and I find this really rewarding. I think that this work helped me to love myself a little more.”
About her daughter, Ro Ah, she said, “In the past, I used to think that when the time came for me to get married, when the time came for me to have kids, I would not want to have children and instead just take care of dogs for the rest of my life. Later, I did have a child because I wanted to. I think my daughter, no matter what career she pursues, will be someone who helps animals. I am looking forward to the things we can do together to help animals as she gets older.”
Jo Yoon Hee showed the other cast members a photo of her 37-month-old daughter and Tiffany exclaimed, “She’s so pretty! She looks just like you.” Jo Yoon Hee said proudly, “She’s tall and has a small face. Other moms have told me how pretty she is. She likes dinosaurs and cars. I’ve lived most of my life as a timid and introverted person, so I had hopes that my daughter would be the type who leads. But she really is like that. She has a tomboyish personality.”
Jo Yoon Hee and Lee Dong Gun’s daughter was born in December 2017. Lee Dong Gun and Jo Yoon Hee divorced in May 2020, with Jo Yoon Hee having custody of their child.
