Bae Sung Woo Fined In Summary Indictment Over Drunk Driving Case

Bae Sung Woo has received a fine for his drunk driving incident.

In December, it was revealed that the actor had been booked for driving under the influence (DUI) the month before. After releasing a statement of apology, he left his drama, “Delayed Justice,” and Jung Woo Sung replaced him in the lead role.

On January 11, sources in the legal profession reported that the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office had given Bae Sung Woo a fine of 7 million won (about $6,400) as a summary indictment.

A summary indictment is when the prosecution makes a judgment about the appropriate monetary penalty for an offence and submits this to the court in writing rather than launching a formal trial. If the defendant or the court objects to the summary indictment, however, a formal trial will take place.
