MONSTA X's Kihyun Makes Thoughtful Donation To Children From Low-Income Families
MONSTA X’s Kihyun has made a warm donation!
On January 18, NGO (non-governmental organization) Good Neighbors revealed that Kihyun had donated 10 million won (approximately $9,062). The donation will be used to fund kits with sanitary products for young girls from low-income households.
Previously in March 2020, MONSTA X donated 100 million won (approximately $90,600) to Good Neighbors to aid those facing difficulties due to COVID-19 in the Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province regions. Afterwards, MONSTA X and their fan club Monbebe became members of Good Neighbor’s The Neighbors Club, which is a status awarded to those who have made contributions of at least 10 million won a year to the international humanitarian NGO and who partake in meaningful activities to help foster a culture of giving help to those in need.
Recently, MONSTA X won the Best Group award at the 35th Golden Disc Awards, Stage of the Year at the 2020 Asia Artist Awards, Best Performance at the 2020 Melon Music Awards, This Year’s Artist at The Fact Music Awards, and Best Stage at the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards. Kihyun shared, “Thanks to the fans’ support, we were able to receive big awards at the end of last year, and I resolved to make a donation because I wanted to share the happiness of receiving the awards.” He added, “I hope to contribute at least a little bit so that the children needing a helping hand during these difficult times can mature in good health.”
Hwang Sung Joo, the director of marketing at Good Neighbors, shared, “We thank MONSTA X’s Kihyun who participated in giving in order to protect the children who are experiencing a cold winter due to the overlapping cold spell and [concerns surrounding] COVID-19. Good Neighbors will provide professional services, such as counseling and mentoring, in addition to financial support so that the young girls from domestic low-income families can mature in good health.”
