Cho Seung Woo Talks About Working With Park Shin Hye In "Sisyphus: The Myth," Reason For Choosing Drama, And More
Cho Seung Woo talked about starring in JTBC’s upcoming 10th anniversary special drama “Sisyphus: The Myth”!
“Sisyphus: The Myth” is a fantasy-mystery drama starring Cho Seung Woo as Han Tae Sool, a genius engineer who embarks on a perilous journey to bring to light hidden beings that are secretly residing in our world, and Park Shin Hye as his savior Kang Seo Hae, who has walked a long and dangerous path for him.
Cho Seung Woo shared, “The drama simultaneously covers the story of the current time in 2020 and the future of South Korea, which has fallen into ruin. The unfinished journey of ‘Sisyphus: The Myth’ begins as Kang Seo Hae comes to find present-day Han Tae Sool in order to change the future.” He added, “As the unique script and art blended well together, I had high expectations for how the two time periods could be portrayed with great artistic sense.”
The actor elaborated on his reason for choosing the drama. He shared, “I chose this drama because I was extremely curious to find out what kind of relationship the drama will create during 16 episodes between Han Tae Sool and Kang Seo Hae, who has come to find him from an unimaginably far place with her life on the line.”
Furthermore, Cho Seung Woo revealed that he was drawn to the character of Han Tae Sool. The actor explained, “He has straightforward emotions, he’s always confident, and he also knows that he’s a genius.” However, Han Tae Sool sometimes takes actions that make his company’s stocks fluctuate, and this is due to a painful regret he has of the past. Cho Seung Woo explained that Han Tae Sool is also a character with a soft and weak heart because although he’s opened the door to the future with his skills, Han Tae Sool himself is still unable to move on from the past.
Though Han Tae Sool is unpredictably carefree on the outside, he’s full of regret and wounds on the inside. Cho Seung Woo shared, “The fluctuation in his emotions is large, and I chose this role because I felt sympathy and affection for Han Tae Sool’s unstable side.”
The actor shared that another reason why he chose the drama was the cast. He explained, “It was the anticipation of being able to meet the cool actress Park Shin Hye, who can capture anything, the best actor Sung Dong Il, whom I’ve always wanted to act with, and Jeon Gook Hwan, whom I’ve continued to admire since a young age.” Full of cast members Cho Seung Woo has been wanting to work with for a long time, the synergy on set is also said to be beyond expectations.
Regarding his co-star Park Shin Hye, Cho Seung Woo shared, “She’s an actress who has never lied, even for a moment, in front of the camera. To that extent, she acts with all her sincerity in every scene, and she created Seo Hae by breathing life into her. I think she’s an incredible actress.”
The drama is helmed by director Jin Hyuk, who previously worked on “The Legend of the Blue Sea,” “Doctor Stranger,” “Master’s Sun,” and more. It is penned by the writer couple Lee Je In and Jeon Chan Ho.
“Sisyphus: The Myth” will premiere on February 17 at 9 p.m. KST following the conclusion of “Run On.” Check out a teaser for the drama here!
