The Best Of GOT7: Memorable OT7 Events That Brought Laughter, Smiles, And Tears

For the past seven years, GOT7 has been actively connected with the I GOT7 fandom (called Ahgase for short) through music, variety shows, live broadcasts, and social media interactions. They have dedicated their bodies and souls to deliver their best performances to date, as well as their tremendous achievements.

While the members have unanimously agreed not to renew their contracts after seven years at JYP Entertainment, this does not mean it’s the end. In fact, if K-pop has taught us anything, it’s that the bond shared by group members goes beyond their contracts and group activities. To commemorate GOT7’s journey, here is a just a small selection of many OT7 events that we will never forget.

1. The one with the ghost prank

Things got real for GOT7 in this episode. The members gathered to work on the cover of their reality show DVD, but their staff had something else planned. The following 20 minutes are a mix of pure entertainment, teasing, and – naturally – horror. See for yourselves!

2. The one with the meat incident

This lovely OT7 dinner has a funny story behind it: a barbecue debt has been finally resolved between Jackson and Jinyoung after the latter has been (jokingly) petty about it for years. Once the other members join in, the result is as fun as it is endearing!

3. The one where GOT7 members were being GOT7

This is GOT7 in a nutshell: music, dance, games, laughter, and pure silliness. In this unreleased cut from “Hard Carry,” the members are the epitome of chaos, much to the viewers’ delight.

4. The one with the first wins

An artist never forgets their first win, and GOT7’s bag is full of trophies. From their first-ever music program win with “If You Do” on “The Show,” their tearful first “M Countdown” win with “Fly,” to their first Daesang for Performance of The Year with “You Calling My Name” on Asia Artist Awards, the group has had a successful career.

5. The one with the “Miracle” MV homage

Fans mean everything to GOT7, and they make sure to convey that sentiment every chance they get. For example, this beautiful ballad is dedicated to Ahgase and how the members consider meeting them a miracle.

6. The one with the Twitter domination

In 2017, GOT7 was the second most used hashtag and the fourth most used keyword on Twitter. Then, they became the third most mentioned K-pop artist on Twitter both in 2018 and 2019, and then fifth in 2020.

7. The one with the royal performance

GOT7 had their last group performance before their contracts expired on the 35th Golden Disk Awards, and it was truly a stage to remember! A captivating intro was followed by an ethereal rendition of “NOT BY THE MOON” before the members closed with “Breath.” Talk about a royal performance!

BONUS: The one with the new beginning (#GOT7FOREVER)

The members celebrated their seventh debut anniversary on January 16. Although the conclusion of their contracts marks the end of an era for GOT7 as a group under JYP Entertainment, the members now own their group’s intellectual property. This means that seeing the seven members reunited once again is simply a matter of time.
