Nam Ji Hyun is in talks for a new drama that Chae Jong Hyeop is reportedly joining as well!
On February 1, a source linked to the drama industry reported to Ilgan Sports, “Nam Ji Hyun has been decided as the lead of the TVING drama ‘Come to the Witch Restaurant’ (literal translation).” Following reports, a source from Nam Ji Hyun’s agency Management SOOP revealed that she was positively reviewing the offer.
“Come to the Witch Restaurant” is about a witch restaurant that sells food that grants wishes and customers who want to live different lives even if they have to sell their own souls. It’s based on the story written by Goo Sang Hee that won the daesang (grand prize) at Kyobo Book Centre’s third story contest. The drama will be about people becoming healed through the witch’s food during a difficult time in their lives.
If Nam Ji Hyun accepts the role, this will be her first drama in one year after MBC’s “365: Repeat the Year.” She is in talks to star as Jung Jin, a figure destined to be a homebody after being fired from work and having no love life. After transferring to a film PR agency, Jung Jin gets fired when she files a complaint about unfair treatment. With her severance pay and using the house as collateral, she starts a cheonggukjang (soup with fermented soybeans) restaurant with her mother. She’s an average 28-year-old woman who’s decently intelligent and beautiful. Although she’s had a slightly special life due to her father’s absence after he ran away from home, her goal is to live an ordinary life.
According to a report by Sports Chosun, Chae Jong Hyeop is in talks to play Lee Gil Yong, a student preparing to take the General Educational Development (GED) test. Although his only dream was to attend a college of physical education since he was a long-distance runner in high school, he’s fallen face forward because of an unexpected life event. Due to a rupture in his meniscus, he’s given up on his dream of becoming a track and field athlete, and he’s terribly heartbroken in the process.
In addition to “365: Repeat the Year,” Nam Ji Hyun starred in “Shopaholic Louis,” “Suspicious Partner,” and “100 Days My Prince.” Chae Jong Hyeop recently made his acting debut through SBS’s “Stove League.” He will also be starring in JTBC’s upcoming 10th anniversary special drama “Sisyphus: The Myth” with Park Shin Hye and Cho Seung Woo.
The drama is scheduled to have a total of eight episodes and will be broadcast through the over-the-top (OTT) streaming platform TVING. Chief producer (CP) So Jae Hyun, who planned tvN’s “Forest of Secrets,” “100 Days My Prince,” and “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” and directed tvN’s “Memorist,” will helm the drama, and Lee Young Sook will write the script.
