“The Penthouse 2” has shared a new highlight video and details about what’s to come in the much-anticipated season!
The SBS show returns on February 19 with the premiere of its new season, which continues the exciting story of twisted ambition, set in a 100-floor luxury penthouse apartment. Check out four key points to look forward to below:
1. The comeback of the dream team
After captivating drama fans around the world with the first season of the show, the talented writer Kim Soon Ok and director Joo Dong Min are returning with the drama’s new season. Following the cast’s powerful performances in the first chapter, stars including Eugene, Kim So Yeon, Uhm Ki Joon, Shin Eun Kyung, Bong Tae Gyu, Yoon Jong Hoon, Park Eun Suk, Yoon Joo Hee, Ha Do Kwon, and more are confirmed to reprise roles in “The Penthouse 2.” It’s said that they’ll be returning with slightly different appearances and more vivid characters. Fans are excited to see what this magical combo of the writer, director, and cast produces this time around.
2. More intense and suspenseful stories
The first season of the show focused on wealthy families who live in the grand apartment building Hera Palace, as well as their children at Cheong Ah Art High School, the best art school in the country. It told a suspenseful story of the hypocrisy and vanity of those who have it all, as well as their evil deeds and twisted ambition.
“The Penthouse 2” will provide even more thrills and suspense as it portrays Hera Palace that’s still overrun with ambition and vanity, villains continuing to commit evil deeds, and the revenge carried out in desperation by those who met a tragic end due to the wickedness and power of those in advantageous positions.
3. An unpredictable story, taking place two years later
“The Penthouse 2” is described as telling a story that takes place “two years after the first war ended with a victory for evil.” The plot will include the villainous couple Cheon Seo Jin (Kim So Yeon) and Joo Dan Tae (Uhm Ki Joon), who have become stronger after their marriage, the fierce competition between the “Hera Club” kids as they aim for Seoul National University, the tragedy of a girl, and Oh Yoon Hee (Eugene) and Logan Lee (Park Eun Suk) setting out to exact revenge on the villains.
4. An upgraded scale and epic twists
The first season of the show impressed with its creation of the world of Hera Palace, with the grand scale, beautiful shots, and CGI effects that turned turned imagination into reality. It’s said that the next season will also be delighting viewers’ eyes and ears with its large scale.
There will also be thrilling twists as mysteries from season one are solved, such as the identity of the person with the butterfly tattoo and the story behind Oh Yoon Hee’s return after having almost died. More exciting stories will center around the winner of the Cheong Ah Art High School award, as well as a girl who takes a fall.
Writer Kim Soon Ok said, “I hope that you’ll take note of the retributive justice as you watch season two.” The production team stated, “Please tune in to the second season of ‘The Penthouse,’ which will feature a battle of revenge beyond imagination and shocking twists.”
A highlight video for the upcoming season shares some more hints at what’s to come. Joo Dan Tae (Uhm Ki Joon) gets down on one knee in front of Cheon Seo Jin to propose, saying “I think I’ve finally found my true soulmate” and telling her he loves her.
The pair have a fairytale wedding, but back at home, someone has been defacing Cheon Seo Jin’s things. She says in frustration to Joo Dan Tae, “I’m certain that it was Oh Yoon Hee.” He replies, “Oh Yoon Hee’s been gone for a year.” Cheon Seo Jin says, “We can’t be completely free as long as Oh Yoon Hee is alive.”
She then screams, “Why is Oh Yoon Hee here?!” The two meet and Oh Yoon Hee smiles and says, “We’re finally properly greeting each other.” Cheon Seo Jin asks, “Have you forgotten who died in the penthouse?” Oh Yoon Hee backs her up against the wall and tells her, “I’m different from Soo Ryeon.”
Logan Lee says to someone, “I’ll handle the rest. Everyone will die by my hands.” Ha Yoon Chul (Yoon Jong Hoon) gets in between Cheon Seo Jin and Oh Yoon Hee as they confront each other, and he collects some big winnings from a card game. “After my divorce, my life changed a lot,” he comments.
Oh Yoon Hee says, “I swear on the life of my daughter.” Someone says that Joo Dan Tae was the real murderer of Shim Soo Ryeon (Lee Ji Ah), and he smiles. Joo Seok Hoon (Kim Young Dae) confronts Joo Dan Tae, pushing him as he screams, “Why did you kill my mother? Why?”
In another scene, Joo Dan Tae grabs Cheon Seo Jin angrily and says, “You deceived me and went to meet another man.” Ha Yoon Chul says in a mocking tone, “You don’t like it when I’m close to Seo Jin?”
“I haven’t even started anything yet,” warns Oh Yoon Hee. As Cheon Seo Jin is shown performing on stage, she says in a voiceover, “Singing is my life.” Oh Yoon Hee replies, “Singing was my life too.”
Bae Ro Na (Kim Hyun Soo) is walking along when Joo Seok Kyung (Han Ji Hyun) pours a bucket of red liquid on her from up above. “How dare you come to our school?” asks Joo Seok Kyung. “I see you all haven’t changed a bit,” says Bae Ro Na.
Cheon Seo Jin tells her daughter Ha Eun Byul (Choi Ye Bin) in desperation, “If you lose the award to Ro Na, my life is over too. You have to win, even if it means killing her.” Joo Seok Kyung and Bae Ro Na both express their determination to win the award. Cheon Seo Jin gets ready to reveal the winner, but before the announcement is shown, a girl falls down the stairs outside, covered in blood once she lies at the bottom.
