Watch: CL Is Chosen As Only Korean Artist To Feature In Google's Women's History Month Video
CL’s achievements are celebrated in a Women’s History Month 2021 video from Google!
Google shared that in the past year, the world searched for “the first woman” more than ever in history. The company’s new video, titled “First of Many — Women’s History Month 2021,” takes a look at many notable firsts achieved by inspiring women. It features astronauts, Nobel laureates, scientists, entrepreneurs, athletes, mountain climbers, and more female trailblazers.
CL is included in a section that highlights female rappers, beginning with the “first woman rapper” Sha-Rock. A clip from CL’s “+HWA+” music video is shown alongside clips of artists including Missy Elliott, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, and more.
CL’s first credited appearance on a song was back in 2008, when she rapped on Uhm Jung Hwa’s track “DJ.” She went on to debut as the leader of the girl group 2NE1 in 2009, and they became one of Korea’s most popular girl groups worldwide. CL released her first solo single “The Baddest Female” in 2013, and she also made a debut as a solo artist in the United States. Her 2016 track “Lifted” made her the first Korean female soloist to enter Billboard’s Hot 100 when it grabbed the No. 94 ranking.
