The first match-up of Round 1 was between “Flower Deer” and “Flower Ribeye,” who sang a duet version of BoA’s “No.1.” Flower Deer showed off her clear and pure voice, while Flower Ribeye impressed with her smooth vocal tone. Both contestants swept the panelists up with their harmonies and by bringing out their individual vocal colors in the duet performance.
The two contestants also competed in a dance-off.
In the end, Flower Ribeye advanced to Round 2 and Flower Deer unmasked to reveal herself as IZ*ONE’s Kim Chae Won, singing Seo Yeong Eun’s “I’m Not Alone.”
Kim Chae Won said, “‘The King of Mask Singer’ is a dream stage for idols. Idols don’t often get the chance to stand on stage alone, and I’ve been dreaming of going on this show since before my debut. I’m happy that I was finally able to come on the show.”
Kim Chae Won is the third IZ*ONE member to appear on “The King of Mask Singer,” after An Yu Jin and Jo Yu Ri. She also shared that she was a fan of panelist Yoon Sang and said, “I became a fan after listening to IU’s ‘The Story Only I Didn’t Know,'” which Yoon Sang produced.
