BTS Receives Triple Million Certification From Gaon; NCT, TREASURE, Oh My Girl, And More Go Platinum
Gaon Chart has announced its latest batch of official certifications!
In 2018, the Korea Music Content Industry Association implemented a new certification system for album sales, song downloads, and online streaming. Starting with music released on or after January 1, 2018, Gaon Chart now certifies albums platinum once they reach 250,000 sales, while albums that have sold a million copies or more receive a “million” certification.
On March 11, Gaon Chart announced that BTS’s latest album “BE” had received an official triple million certification after selling over 3 million copies. Following the album’s initial release in November (when “BE [Deluxe Edition]” was dropped), BTS recently released a new “Essential Edition” of the album in February).
Meanwhile, NCT’s 2018 album “NCT 2018 Empathy” earned an official double platinum certification after selling over 500,000 copies.
NCT DREAM’s 2018 mini album “We Go Up” was also officially certified platinum after selling over 250,000 copies, while TREASURE received their first-ever Gaon platinum certifications for both their debut single album “THE FIRST STEP : CHAPTER ONE” and their first full-length album “THE FIRST STEP : TREASURE EFFECT.”
In the streaming category, Oh My Girl’s “Nonstop,” Kim Na Young’s “To Be Honest,” and Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s “Señorita” were all certified platinum after surpassing 100 million streams each.
Congratulations to all of the artists on their impressive achievements!
