Suzy And BTS's J-Hope Make Meaningful Donations In Honor Of Children's Day
Suzy and BTS’s J-Hope are celebrating Children’s Day in a heartwarming way!
May 5 marks Children’s Day, a national holiday in Korea.
On May 4, Suzy’s agency Management SOOP confirmed, “Suzy donated 100 million won (approximately $89,200) to the Happy Sharing Taekwondo Federation in light of Children’s Day.” The money will be used to support children in orphanages and young adults who can no longer be protected at child welfare institutions.
The idol-turned-actress is known to have made annual donations for various causes such as aiding child cancer patients, low-income families, COVID-19 efforts, and patients of incurable diseases. She was also instated into the Honor Society recognized by the Community Chest of Korea in 2015. Members are those who have donated more than 100 million won.
BTS’s J-Hope is also making a meaningful mark with a donation to ChildFund Korea, a child development organization.
ChildFund Korea announced on May 4, “In light of Children’s Day, J-Hope donated 100 million won for the support of children in Tanzania exposed to violence.” The funds will go towards the newly established One Stop Center, a support system set up for the prevention of violence against children in Tanzania. The center was established by ChildFund to provide treatment, legal support and counseling, assistance in collecting evidence, and assistance in filing reports.
J-Hope was previously recognized by ChildFund Korea as a member of the Green Noble Club in 2018 for making donations greater than 100 million won. Last year, he donated 100 million won to assist children from low-income families struggling through COVID-19 and 150 million won (approximately $133,800) in February for his birthday. J-Hope’s total donations to ChildFund Korea amount to 700 million won (approximately $624,600)
J-Hope commented, “Many people around the world are suffering from COVID-19. I came to support children overseas following the support of domestic children in hopes that the warmth of sharing could reach them in the nooks of the world.”
Chairman of ChildFund Korea Lee Jae Hoon stated, “The continuous support of global superstar BTS’s member J-Hope is raising awareness of children suffering from economic difficulties. The foundation will also do its best to uphold the intentions of all donors including J-Hope by supporting children in need both domestically and internationally.”
