BTS Receives Quadruple Million Certification From Gaon; TWICE, Stray Kids, BLACKPINK's Rosé, IU, ATEEZ, And More Go Platinum
Gaon Chart has unveiled its newest batch of official certifications!
In 2018, the Korea Music Content Industry Association implemented a new certification system for album sales, song downloads, and online streaming. Starting with music released on or after January 1, 2018, Gaon Chart now certifies albums platinum once they reach 250,000 sales, while albums that have sold a million copies or more receive a “million” certification.
On May 6, Gaon Chart announced that BTS’s “Map of the Soul: Persona” achieved a quadruple million certification for selling four million copies, while IU’s “LILAC,” Super Junior’s “The Renaissance,” BLACKPINK’s Rosé’s “R,” WayV’s “Kick Back,” ATEEZ’s “ZERO : FEVER Part. 2,” and Stray Kids’ “Clé: LEVANTER” were certified platinum for surpassing 250,000 sales.
Platinum certification for streaming is achieved when a song surpasses 100 million streams. MC the Max’s “BLOOM,” MAMAMOO’s Hwasa’s “Maria,” OVAN’s “I Need You,” and TWICE’s “FANCY” received platinum certifications.
Congratulations to everyone!
