MAMAMOO Talks About The Meaning Of Their Comeback, 2021 Plans, And More

MAMAMOO made a comeback with the new mini album “WAW” and title track “Where Are We Now” on June 2.

In a Q&A interview, the members shared how they felt about their latest comeback and how it was a moment for them to reflect on the past seven years of their career together.

About making a comeback with a ballad album, they shared, “We’d put a lot of ballads as b-side tracks on previous albums, but this is the first time it’s been all ballads, including the title track. We’re looking forward to showing a more mature image, as well as MAMAMOO’s harmony and chemistry that we’ve been developing for a long time.”

The group introduced their title track as, “‘Where Are We Now’ is about people who have been on a long journey together and stopping to ask each other, ‘Where are we now?’ It’s about the past, the present, and the future. It’s not just MAMAMOO’s story, but a story that everyone can share.”

Asked where they thought MAMAMOO was right now, they said, “There’s a line in the song that goes, ‘One day in a long journey.’ I think that right now we are in one day of that long journey called life. We’re grateful that we can be on this journey together with the members and with our fans, MooMoos. In the time we’ve spent on this journey as MAMAMOO, we’ve experienced a lot of things that we wouldn’t have been able to do alone.”

“WAW” is the start of MAMAMOO’s “2021 Where Are We” project, which includes a summer concert and a documentary. The members shared, “We prepared for the documentary and the concert at the same time as our album preparations. The documentary is constantly in production, so you’ll be able to see it soon. The concert will take place when the situation is more stable for everyone, so we’re preparing a lot of different things. The goal is for this summer, so please look forward to it.”
