Lai Kuanlin Wins Lawsuit Against Cube Entertainment + Contract Ruled Invalid
Lai Kuanlin has won his civil suit filed against Cube Entertainment to confirm the invalidity of their exclusive contract.
The former Wanna One member requested to terminate his contract with Cube Entertainment in July 2019 with the reasoning that the agency had taken actions that violated their contract. In November of the same year, the Seoul Central District Court dismissed Lai Kuanlin’s request. He then filed for an appellate trial in May 2020, which was dismissed by the Seoul High Court.
Afterwards, Lai Kuanlin’s legal representative filed a lawsuit on merits for the invalidity of his contract with Cube Entertainment, and four trials were held regarding this case.
The judgment hearing was held on June 17 at the Seoul Central District Court. At the hearing, the court ruled Lai Kuanlin and Cube Entertainment’s exclusive contract as invalid and added, “The defendant is responsible for paying the litigation expenses.”
Lai Kuanlin competed in “Produce 101 Season 2” as a Cube Entertainment trainee in 2017 and debuted as a member of Wanna One. Following his idol activities in Korea, he debuted as an actor in China.
