12 More K-Pop Tracks That Never Got A Music Show Win, But Definitely Deserved One
Music shows aren’t the end-all-be-all of success in the K-pop world, but winning an award on a respected music show can definitely help a group to get a leg-up and stand out from the rest. Each program has a different point system for determining winners, so sometimes it comes down to timing or plain bad luck that even the most amazing songs don’t score a win. Here (in no particular order) is an updated list of songs that deserved a win!
1. Stray Kids’ “God’s Menu”
Arguably one of Stray Kids’ most popular tracks, “God’s Menu” shockingly never got a music show win during their promotional period. With its unique concept and standout choreography, it’s definitely surprising to hear that this track didn’t snag a trophy.
2. KARD’s “Bomb Bomb”
This song is instantly addictive! With its catchy beat and strong vocals, it was one of the summer’s most iconic tracks when it was released in March of 2019. KARD as a whole group is super underrated – despite their talented members and great music, they have yet to secure a music show win.
3. Weki Meki’s “Picky Picky”
Speaking of tracks that could be considered the song of the summer, “Picky Picky” has a surprisingly serious message hidden underneath its upbeat, peppy sound. Regardless, it was pretty popular – and definitely worthy of a win.
4. ONEUS’s “Valkyrie”
This is ONEUS’s debut track, and while being a freshly debuted group at the time, they impressed with the stellar vocals and smooth flow of this song. “Valkyrie” definitely made them the rookie group to watch, and even though the song didn’t get a win, it still deserves all the hype.
5. LOONA’s “Butterfly”
Pretty much every seasoned girl group fan will know and love this song – it’s one of their best and stands out from the K-pop crowd with its unique sound and stunning choreography. Unfortunately, this one didn’t get a win (even if it’s a winner in every Orbit’s heart!).
6. ATEEZ’s “Answer”
The stunning melody and dramatic sound of this ATEEZ classic make it sound like a movie soundtrack in the best way, and the choreography just completes the magic. Add the group’s magnetic stage presence into the mix, and it’s pretty much impossible to figure out why this one didn’t get a win.
7. EVERGLOW’s “Bon Bon Chocolat”
This debut track really put EVERGLOW on the map, and it’s mind-blowing to think that it never snagged a music show win. Its cool beat and iconic choreography swept social media at the time of release, and it’s still a total banger.
8. SEVENTEEN’s “VERY NICE”
“VERY NICE” never got a win, but it continues to chart every now and then to this day as an act of revenge! Once it gets stuck in your head, it never goes away thanks to the track’s unbelievably catchy tag line and cheery yet powerful sound.
9. Red Velvet’s “RBB (Really Bad Boy)”
Red Velvet is known for their ability to pull off pretty much any concept, so it might come as a surprise that this song didn’t get a win. This track features some incredible vocals from Wendy and strong choreography, so it’s a shame that it never won on a music show.
10. DAY6’s “Shoot Me”
Even people that don’t usually listen to K-bands will know and love this one – it’s one of DAY6’s most famous tracks and for a really good reason. It’s a great one to scream out when you’re really in your feels, and it’s sad to know that it didn’t score the win it deserves.
11. TWICE’s “Like OOH-AHH”
Each TWICE track has its own charms, but this one still stands out among all the hits. The cool music video (featuring zombies!) and peppy spirit of this song is equal parts addictive and fun, so it’s disappointing to know that it didn’t get a win.
12. NCT U’s “BOSS”
You’d be hard-pressed to find a K-pop fan that doesn’t know this one – because it’s a total bop. The powerful choreography and stunning rap elements make this track special, and (despite the fact that it didn’t get a win) it’s still a popular choice for covers.
