Youn Yuh Jung & "Minari" Stars Steven Yeun And Han Ye Ri Invited To Join Academy After Historic Oscars Win
Several members of the “Minari” cast and crew have been invited to join the Academy!
The cast and crew of the award-winning film left an undeniable mark on this year’s international awards circuit—particularly Youn Yuh Jung, who made history by sweeping the circuit with her memorable performance as Soon Ja.
In addition to several other prestigious awards, Youn Yuh Jung made history by winning this year’s Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, making her the first Korean actor ever to win an acting award at the Oscars.
On July 1 local time, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences—the famous organization that holds the annual Academy Awards—officially announced that it had invited 395 artists and executives to join as new members this year.
“Minari” stars Youn Yuh Jung, Steven Yeun, and Han Ye Ri, as well as director Isaac Lee Chung, have all been invited to join as voting members. Editor Harry Yoon, producer Christina Oh, and composer Emile Mosseri have also received invitations.
Should the cast and crew members accept their invitations, they will be eligible to vote for the Academy Awards in future years.
