Song Joong Ki's Agency Responds To Complaints About His Building
Song Joong Ki’s agency HISTORY D&C responded to complaints about the actor’s building.
On July 2, SBS reported that residents raised concerns over safety issues concerning the construction of the land in Itaewon, Yongsan District that had been purchased by Song Joong Ki in 2016. The construction, which began last year, became a problem when it arbitrarily adjusted the slope of the road to fit the driveway at the height of the parking lot. As the road was 30 to 50 centimeters (11.8 to 19.7 inches) higher than before, the slope became steeper and caused some car accidents. In addition, the issue with noise has become more problematic as construction has been underway for more than a year since last February.
One resident claimed, “It seems that a slope was created to connect to the parking lot, but it became more dangerous as narrow roads became steep, and some of the vehicles are getting scratches underneath them.” On June 15, a truck skidded back with its front wheels lifted and collided with a structure while going up the road. There were no casualties, but residents complained, saying it was a “foreseen accident with a high possibility of recurrence.”
Also, arbitrarily adjusting roads without permission from the district office is a violation of Article 75 of the Road Act, and Yongsan District Office reportedly sent several official letters to Song Joong Ki to restore the road to its original state.
Regarding these issues, HISTORY D&C said, “Ever since last year, construction work has been underway at [Song Joong Ki’s] residence in Itaewon, Yongsan District, Seoul. Some of the private land purchased by Song Joong Ki had been previously used as a road, and that part was included in the design and construction. However, after receiving complaints about inconveniences that restrict traffic, [the actor] allowed some of the private land to be used as roads. There was a problem in the process of changing the road for traffic once again.”
The agency added, “We will make sure to correct this matter without as much inconvenience as possible. We submitted a corrective plan to Yongsan District Office as of July 1. We’ll try to solve it as soon as possible.”
