BTS Makes Billboard History As 'Butter' Tops Hot 100 For Record-Breaking 6th Week

BTS continues to make history on Billboard’s Hot 100!

On July 6 local time, Billboard officially announced that BTS’s hit single “Butter” had remained No. 1 on its famous Hot 100 chart—its weekly ranking of the most popular songs in the United States—for the sixth consecutive week.

With this latest achievement, “Butter” has broken its own record for the longest-running No. 1 hit on the Hot 100 by any Asian act in history.

Additionally, as reported last week, only one song by a group has ever topped the Hot 100 for more weeks from its debut: Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s 1995 hit “One Sweet Day,” which topped the chart for 16 straight weeks starting with its debut.

“Butter” was also the top-selling song of the week: according to MRC Data (formerly Nielsen Music), the song racked up 11 million streams and 153,600 combined sales (downloads, cassette, and vinyl) in the week ending on July 1. “Butter” also garnered 28.3 million radio airplay audience impressions in the week ending on July 4.

Billboard’s full charts for the week will be updated on July 7 local time (a day later than usual due to the July 4 holiday).

Congratulations to BTS on their historic achievement!
