BTS Sets New Oricon Record For Foreign Artists As 'Butter' CD Debuts At No. 1 On Weekly Album Chart

BTS has just made Oricon history in Japan!

On July 20, Oricon officially announced that the new CD version of BTS’s single “Butter” had debuted at No. 1 on its latest weekly album chart. The CD single, which also includes BTS’s new song “Permission to Dance,” sold approximately 195,000 copies from July 12 to 18 according to Oricon’s calculations.

With this latest achievement, BTS has become the first foreign artist in history ever to top Oricon’s weekly album chart with nine different albums.

Meanwhile, BTS’s digital single “Butter” has topped Oricon’s weekly streaming chart for eight consecutive weeks since its release in May. The song also set a new Oricon record for the highest number of streams in a single week after racking up over 31.1 million streams in its second week on the chart.

Congratulations to BTS!
