On July 26, iMBC reported that someone had tested positive for COVID-19 on the set of KBS’s upcoming historical drama “The King’s Affection.”
Based on a manhwa (Korean comic), “The King’s Affection” is about a pair of royal twins, one male and one female. The sister is initially abandoned for being born a girl, but she later disguises herself as a man to take the place of her brother as crown prince. The drama stars Park Eun Bin, SF9’s Rowoon, VICTON’s Byungchan, DIA’s Jung Chaeyeon, Bae Yoon Kyung, Nam Yoon Su, and Bae Soo Bin.
A source from “The King’s Affection” stated to iMBC, “One of the extras on the drama was diagnosed with COVID-19 on July 26. After learning of this, all the production crew members, the actors, and their agency staff members were tested for COVID-19. Filming has been paused and we will follow the instructions of the disease control authorities.”
However, SF9’s Rowoon and VICTON’s Byungchan did not cross paths with the confirmed case and do not need to get tested or go into self-quarantine. Rowoon’s agency stated, “Because of SF9’s album promotions, Rowoon did not film on July 24, when the confirmed COVID-19 case was present, and did not come into contact with them at all. Therefore, he did not get tested, but will follow the directions of the production staff.” Byungchan’s agency released a similar statement.
On July 27, Park Eun Bin’s agency, Namoo Actors, stated that Park Eun Bin had tested negative for COVID-19. She was preemptively tested because she had been on the same set as the confirmed case, but had not actually come into contact with them at any point. The agency shared, “We will continue to follow the disease control authorities’ guidelines and do our best to ensure our artists’ safety and health. Moreover, we wish the confirmed COVID-19 patient a full recovery.”
“The King’s Affection” also confirmed that in addition to Park Eun Bin, Bae Soo Bin, Lee Pil Mo, Kim Jae Chul, Go Kyu Pil, Jang Se Hyun, Son Yeo Eun, and Son Jong Hak, who had all filmed on July 24, had tested negative for the virus. The production crew members, with the exception of three or four who are still waiting for their test results, had all tested negative as well. Actor Nam Yoon Su, who had filmed on July 25, is also awaiting his test results.
