Weeekly's Jiyoon To Sit Out Upcoming Comeback; Temporarily Halts All Activities Due To Health
Weeekly’s Jiyoon will not be participating in the group’s upcoming comeback due to health concerns.
On August 1, Play M Entertainment announced that Jiyoon would temporarily be halting all activities due to recurring symptoms of anxiety.
The agency also stated that Weeekly will be promoting their upcoming mini album “Play Game: Holiday,” which is due out on August 4, as a six-member group.
Play M Entertainment’s full statement is as follows:
Hello, this is Play M Entertainment.
We are making an announcement to the fans regarding Weeekly’s Shin Jiyoon’s health and future promotions.
During her past activities, Jiyoon has experienced intermittent symptoms of anxiety, and so she has been taking care of her health by receiving professional treatment from a medical facility.
Recently, however, while preparing for their new album, Jiyoon once again reported strong feelings of nervousness and anxiety. After deep discussions with Jiyoon herself, as well as her family and her doctor, we came to the conclusion that Jiyoon needs time to focus solely on recovering her health.
Therefore, Jiyoon will temporarily be halting promotions, and Weeekly will proceed with their album promotions as a six-member group.
We ask for fans’ generous understanding about this decision, which was made with our artist’s health as our top priority, and we will make another announcement in the future regarding Jiyoon’s return to activities.
We are truly sorry to the fans who must be worried after hearing this sudden news of halting promotions ahead of a comeback, and we ask that you refrain from speculation or misunderstandings about Jiyoon’s health.
Our agency will do our utmost to help Jiyoon recover.
Thank you.
