3 Reasons Why 'Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha' Is Set To Be A Unique Romance Drama

tvN’s “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” has revealed what makes the drama special ahead of its premiere!

A remake of the film “Mr. Hong,” “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” is a romance drama starring Shin Min Ah as Yoon Hye Jin, a dentist who moves from Seoul to the seaside village of Gongjin, and Kim Seon Ho as Hong Doo Shik, an odd-job expert who helps everyone around town.

With the previously released teaser and photos all hinting at a romantic first meeting between the two leads, drama fans are looking forward to the pair’s perfect chemistry. Below are three things to look for in the drama that will set its romance apart from that of your typical love story.

1. A meeting between likable characters

The drama’s storyline revolves around the city girl Yoon Hye Jin and the seaside village odd-job expert Hong Doo Shik. As two people with polar opposite personalities, one might think that their first encounter might spark immediate feelings that make viewers’ hearts race. However, Yoon Hye Jin and Hong Doo Shik’s romance will be one that slowly builds based on ever-changing feelings. Thus, the process of how their feelings change and how each of them feels different emotions will become one main point of the drama. Each character has their own charms, but when the two characters are together, their blossoming synergy will be fascinating to watch.

In addition, the other residents of the village will also be likable. Each character will have their own unexpected story, from the youngest child to the grandmother in her 80s, and the way they all fit together will be a great point of interest. When Yoon Hye Jin and Hong Doo Shik form relationships with the other villagers, the drama will become even more complete.

2. The meeting of romance and everyday life

Another key point that differentiates “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” from other dramas is how the villagers’ heart-warming stories add to the romance between the main characters. Instead of just being an additional storyline, the villager’s stories will add even more restorative depth to Yoon Hye Jin and Hong Doo Shik’s relationship. As Yoon Hye Jin adjusts to life in the village while progressing in her romance with Hong Doo Shik, the stories of the villagers will at times offer comedic relief and at other times make viewers’ hearts ache with sympathy.

As a result, viewers will wonder if the drama’s genre could be described as a romance that has comforting and healing properties. The fact that all of the stories will be connected in a natural manner to set the background of the beautiful and peaceful seaside village of Gongjin is also piquing curiosity. The drama’s special village full of warm and heart-fluttering stories, in addition to the aesthetically-pleasing shots, will create a relaxing time for viewers.

3. The meeting between the masters of chemistry

“Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” is directed by Yoo Je Won, who is known for his detailed and sensitive directing that lead to the birth of legendary couples in dramas such as “Oh My Ghostess” and “Tomorrow With You.” Alongside the director are the actors Shin Min Ah and Kim Seon Ho, whose names alone are enough to make drama fans giddy with excitement. As this drama marks director Yoo Je Won and Shin Min Ah’s second collaboration after her role in “Tomorrow With You,” drama fans are anticipating an even better synergy between them. Add Kim Seon Ho to the mix with his ability to pull off any sort of relationship, even a bromance filled with banter, and the lineup for “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” becomes even more formidable. Viewers can expect the drama to be filled with various forms of chemistry between the characters.

“Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” will premiere on August 28 at 9 p.m. KST.
