Watch: Kim Yoo Jung, Ahn Hyo Seop, And More Attend Lively 1st Script Reading For "Lovers Of The Red Sky"

SBS’s upcoming drama “Lovers of the Red Sky” shared a behind-the-scenes look at the script reading!

Based on the novel of the same name by author Jung Eun Gwol, whose novels “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” and “The Moon Embracing the Sun” have also famously been adapted into hit dramas, “Lovers of the Red Sky” is a historical fantasy romance drama set in the Joseon era.

The new making-of video begins with director Jang Tae Yoo introducing himself, along with lead actors Ahn Hyo Seop and Kim Yoo Jung. Ahn Hyo Seop will star as blind astrologer Ha Ram, who is able to read the stars despite losing his sight. Kim Yoo Jung will star as Hong Chun Gi, the Joseon dynasty’s only female painter, who was born blind but miraculously regains vision. About her character, Kim Yoo Jung explains, “She’s a divine artist who has extreme beauty and talented skills.”

Gong Myung uses the lines from his script to describe his character of the lonely and romantic Prince Yangmyung. He shares, “It appears in the script as well, but he’s a handsome man who is skilled in poetry, so he’s referred to as someone skilled in three areas. He likes to draw and write.”

Kwak Si Yang will play the cruel and ambitious Prince Joohyang. The actor reveals, “He’s a figure who can commit heinous deeds in order to become king. He has a lot of suspicions, and he’s a character who also excels in martial arts.”

The four main leads are also joined by talented supporting actors including Go Kyu Pil, Jo Sung Ha, Moon Sook, Hwang Sang Jin, Kim Kwang Gyu, Chae Gook Hee, Song Won Seok, Jang Hyun Sung, and more.

Ahn Hyo Seop shares, “First of all, I got the thought that I just have to do well. Having worked with the senior actors after just seeing the drama through words, it felt a lot more concrete and three-dimensional, so I had a really enjoyable time.” Kim Yoo Jung comments, “I met and worked with staff and actors I’m meeting for the first time today, and I think the picture was better painted than when I was looking at the script alone.”

Gong Myung adds, “There were many people I was very curious about while reading the script, so it was really fun participating in the script reading with the senior actors. I was nervous, but I think the day was wrapped up nicely.” Kwak Si Yang shares, “My ears were really pleased since there were many prominent senior actors, and I think it’ll become a drama that will please my eyes as well.”
