Ahn Hyo Seop Channels A Mysterious Aura As A Blind Astrologer In "Lovers Of The Red Sky"
SBS’s upcoming drama “Lovers of the Red Sky” has released the first stills of Ahn Hyo Seop in his new role!
Based on the novel by Jung Eun Gwol, the author of the novels behind the hit dramas “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” and “The Moon Embracing the Sun,” “Lovers of the Red Sky” is a historical fantasy romance drama set in the Joseon era. Kim Yoo Jung stars as Hong Chun Gi, the Joseon dynasty’s only female painter, who was born blind but miraculously regains vision. Ahn Hyo Seop stars as blind astrologer Ha Ram, who is able to read the stars despite losing his sight.
This is Ahn Hyo Seop’s first time taking a lead role in a historical drama. In the stills released on August 9 from the drama’s first filming, the actor channels a mysterious aura in his traditional hanbok clothing and gat (hat). Unlike the other people in the drama, Ha Ram is set apart by his deep red eyes.
Ha Ram is a mid-ranking official in the Seomungwan, an organization in charge of astronomy, geography, calendar, almanac, weather forecasting, and more. It was re-established in the Joseon dynasty by King Taejo based on the original system from the Goryeo dynasty. He lost his sight in a strange and unforeseen incident during a rain calling ritual when he was young.
The production staff stated, “After seeing Ahn Hyo Seop immerse himself deeper in the role as filming goes on, the production staff also began to anticipate the completion of his acting as seen onscreen. Ha Ram’s mysterious aura has grown stronger through Ahn Hyo Seop’s acting. Please look forward to Ahn Hyo Seop’s new transformation through ‘Lovers of the Red Sky.'”
“Lovers of the Red Sky” will premiere on August 30 and will be available on Viki.
