"BLACKPINK The Movie" Records Almost 500,000 Moviegoers Worldwide
Just five days after its release, “BLACKPINK The Movie” almost garnered 500,000 moviegoers worldwide!
“BLACKPINK The Movie” was released in 100 countries and 3,000 theaters on August 4. In Korea, CGV showed the movie in various formats such as ScreenX that includes a tri-screen theater, 4DX that lets the audience experience the echo and catharsis of concert sites, and 4DX Screen that takes advantage of both formats.
The countries with the most moviegoers are Mexico, United States, Turkey, Brazil, and Japan. In particular, ever since YG Entertainment announced the news of the movie on June 16, Mexico has been listed as one of the top five countries that would search BLACKPINK on Google whenever there was news about the film.
The film is expected to be released in some Southeast Asian countries (Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia) around the end of August with the easing of COVID-19 regulations. As a result, the number of theaters will expand from 3,000 to 4,200.
Part of the group’s fifth anniversary “4+1 Project,” “BLACKPINK The Movie” is about their five years together as well as their performances. The four members (4) and their fans BLINK (+1) have made BLACKPINK the global group they are today.
