EXO And SEVENTEEN Earn Gaon Million Certifications; TXT, NCT DREAM, TWICE, BLACKPINK, Stray Kids, IU, And More Go Platinum
Gaon Chart has announced its latest batch of official certifications!
In 2018, the Korea Music Content Industry Association implemented a new certification system for album sales, song downloads, and online streaming. Starting with music released on or after January 1, 2018, Gaon Chart now certifies albums platinum once they reach 250,000 sales, while albums that have sold a million copies or more receive a “million” certification.
On August 12, Gaon Chart announced that EXO’s latest album “Don’t Fight the Feeling” and SEVENTEEN’s recent mini album “Your Choice” had both received official million certifications after selling over a million copies each.
Meanwhile, both NCT DREAM’s recent repackaged album “Hello Future” and TXT’s latest studio album “The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE” received official triple platinum certifications after selling over 750,000 copies each.
TWICE’s latest mini album “Taste of Love” was also officially certified double platinum after selling over 500,000 copies since its release in June.
Additionally, Stray Kids’ 2019 mini album “Clé 1 : MIROH,” IU’s 2019 mini album “Love Poem,” MONSTA X’s latest mini album “One of a Kind,” and TREASURE’s 2020 single album “THE FIRST STEP : CHAPTER TWO” were all certified platinum after selling over 250,000 copies each.
Over in the streaming category, BLACKPINK’s “Lovesick Girls,” IU’s “Celebrity,” and Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now” were all certified platinum after surpassing 100 million streams each.
Congratulations to all of the artists on their impressive achievements!
