Miyawaki Sakura Reportedly Returning To Korea To Discuss Contract With HYBE Labels + HYBE Responds
Miyawaki Sakura, a former member of IZ*ONE, may be joining Source Music, which is part of HYBE Labels.
According to Sports Kyunghyang, Miyawaki Sakura will arrive at Incheon International Airport at 7:55 p.m. on August 23. The news media outlet reported that she is aiming to sign a contract with HYBE Labels.
In response to the reports, a source from HYBE commented, “We cannot verify information regarding our artist contracts. We ask for your understanding.”
This isn’t the first time that Miyawaki Sakura was reported to sign with HYBE. Back in March, it was reported that Miyawaki Sakura would continue activities at Big Hit Entertainment (HYBE’s previous name) following IZ*ONE’s disbandment with high possibility of her joining a new girl group at the agency. In response to the report, Big Hit had commented, “Nothing has been decided [regarding this matter].”
If Miyawaki Sakura does sign with Source Music, she might be reuniting with former IZ*ONE member Kim Chae Won, who was also reported to have signed a contract with HYBE Labels. According to the report, both Kim Chae Won and Miyawaki Sakura will be joining an upcoming girl group under Source Music that will consist of approximately five members and will include two to three former members of IZ*ONE. However, HYBE and Kim Chae Won’s original agency Woollim Entertainment shared the same brief answer given to the question about Miyawaki Sakura joining the label.
Miyawaki Sakura first debuted in Japan as a member of HKT48 in 2011. After ranking No. 2 on Mnet’s “Produce 48” in 2018, she debuted as a member of project group IZ*ONE, and she promoted with the group up until their disbandment. In May, she announced her graduation from her longtime group HKT48.
