"Home Alone" Producers Deny Bullying Rumors + Apologize For Recent Controversy
The producers of MBC’s “Home Alone” (“I Live Alone”) have released a formal statement responding to the controversy over recent episodes.
On the August 13 episode of the variety show, Kian 84 planned a special trip with his fellow cast members to celebrate wrapping up his long-running webtoon. However, after he and Jun Hyun Moo took off to his hometown of Yeoju, the other cast members never arrived, and Kian 84 was visibly disappointed to hear that they would not be coming after all.
Although the cast members gave various explanations for why they had decided not to go, the prank upset many viewers, some of whom accused the “Home Alone” cast and crew of bullying Kian 84. Some viewers also wondered whether the prank would conclude with the other cast members arriving late to surprise Kian 84—but when the second installment of the trip aired on August 20, they found that the other members never joined him and Jun Hyun Moo.
On August 21, the producers of “Home Alone” released the following statement:
Hello, this is the production staff of “Home Alone.”
We apologize to those who felt even the slightest bit of discomfort while watching our “Hyun Moo, Kian Summer Vacation Story” episode.
It is completely untrue that there is any bad blood between the members.
It was the fault of the production staff for not having paid more careful attention, and while considering multiple factors related to production, we failed to explain the situation in detail.
We will be even more careful during the production process in the future.
Additionally, the cast members did nothing wrong and are not to blame, so we hope that you will refrain from personal attacks directed toward individual cast members.
We will do our utmost to show better things to the viewers who love and support “Home Alone.”
