VERIVERY Talks About Their Comeback, Trying New Styles, And Minchan's Return From Hiatus
On August 23, VERIVERY held an online showcase for the release of their sixth mini album, “SERIES ‘O’ [ROUND 2: HOLE].”
The group shared that the keyword for their new album was “jamgida,” which can mean both “submerged” and “locked.” “You’ll be able to see VERIVERY in both situations,” they said. “Through the objet of ‘water,’ VERIVERY will be trapped by ourselves. If fans keep this in mind, then they’ll be able to enjoy the performance more.”
Asked about how the members had changed their style, the members shared that they had been exercising more. Kangmin, who sported a short blue haircut, said, “The color is one thing, but I also tried a really short cut, so I was nervous.” Dongheon said, “After he cut his hair, Kangmin [who is the youngest member] began to feel like an adult. He used to feel like a little kid before, but now he can stand shoulder to shoulder with the older members. I think that he has both sides inside him.”
VERIVERY said that they wanted to be nicknamed “Horror-VERY” in terms of their new concept. Kangmin said, “A lot of people are struggling due to the heat, so we want to help people feel cool with our horror transformation.” Asked about the difference between this album and their last album, he said, “Our last album was about each of us finding the dark space inside us, but this time is about us being lost within the trap of the darkness.”
Back in May, Jellyfish Entertainment announced that Minchan was returning to activities after an eight-month hiatus due to psychological anxiety. At the showcase, Minchan said, “I think I was able to return in good health thanks to the many fans who worried about me and sent me support. As I rested, I worked with the members to produce songs, and monitored the group’s ‘Get Away’ promotions. The members did ‘Get Away’ so well that I felt a sense of pressure. But when the seven of us practiced together, I felt that VERIVERY was best as seven.”
About their goal for these promotions, Dongheon said, “We want to be recognized as a group that is always trying new things.”
