BTS's 'Butter' Becomes Fastest Song In RIAJ History To Earn Platinum Certification For Streaming In Japan

BTS’s “Butter” has achieved an incredible feat in Japan!

On August 24, the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) announced that BTS’s digital single “Butter” had surpassed 100 million streams, earning the platinum certification. “Butter” is now the fastest song in RIAJ history to achieve the official platinum certification, having done so in only 72 days since the song’s release on May 21.

According to the RIAJ’s certification thresholds for streaming, songs are certified silver once they reach 30 million streams, gold at 50 million streams, and platinum at 100 million streams.

Previously, BTS’s “Boy With Luv,” “Stay Gold,” and “Dynamite” were also certified platinum for streaming, while the CD version of “Butter” received a platinum certification for physical albums. In June, their compilation album “BTS, THE BEST” earned a million certification, making BTS the first foreign male artist ever to achieve the feat.

Congratulations, BTS!
