CL Shares How Beyoncé Gave Her Strength During A Difficult Time

CL expressed her gratitude to Beyoncé on the latest episode of “Ask Us Anything”!

The singer, who recently made her long-awaited return with the new single “SPICY,” appeared as a guest on the August 28 broadcast of the JTBC variety show. During the episode, CL named Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, and Kanye West as some of her celebrity friends.

“I was sort of under the same agency as Justin Bieber and Ariana,” she explained, “because we had the same manager. So when I went to the United States, they took good care of me.”

Back when she was preparing for her U.S. solo debut, CL signed a management contract with Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande’s manager Scooter Braun in 2014. They are currently no longer affiliated.

CL also went on to talk about how Beyoncé had given her strength during an especially difficult time in her life.

Affectionately referring to her as “unnie,” CL revealed, “When Beyoncé was launching her [clothing] brand, she asked me to come be a model for the line.”

“In a way, I was going through what was emotionally the hardest time of my life back then,” she recalled, “and the fact that she invited me [to model] was a huge source of comfort. And the way she chatted with me about the little things, like how nice the weather was that day, was even more comforting. So I thought to myself back then, ‘No matter what, I really want to become someone who’s like her.'”
