Watch: Shin Min Ah Has So Much Trouble Not Laughing In "Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha" That She Says She'll Just Keep Her Eyes Closed
tvN has shared a new behind-the-scenes look at episodes 1 and 2 of “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha”!
“Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” is a romantic comedy drama starring Shin Min Ah as Yoon Hye Jin, a dentist who moves from Seoul to the seaside village of Gongjin, and Kim Seon Ho as Hong Doo Shik, an odd-jobs expert who helps everyone around town.
The behind-the-scenes video starts with Yoon Hye Jin and Hong Doo Shik’s first encounter at the beach, where he has a surfboard and a wetsuit and she has just lost her high heels to the tide. The director suggests that Kim Seon Ho leave the encounter in a more irritating way, so Kim Seon Ho lightly bumps Shin Min Ah with the surfboard as he turns away from her. Kim Seon Ho is also supposed to toss her his slippers at the end, but he has so much trouble kicking them over to her that Shin Min Ah bursts into laughter.
The next scene is when Yoon Hye Jin approaches Hong Doo Shik as he is repainting a boat. Kim Seon Ho experiences some more prop trouble as he has to roll his cart over to where she is standing, much to Shin Min Ah’s amusement. But Shin Min Ah really can’t stop herself from laughing during a shot where Kim Seon Ho has to unfurl his real estate license before putting his hands on his hips and smiling. The first time he does this, she exclaims, “You didn’t do that in rehearsals!” She laughs so much that eventually Kim Seon Ho jokingly complains to the director, “She keeps laughing!” He then asks her if he should not put his hands on his hips, and she says, “No, it’s fine. You do it, I’ll just close my eyes.”
Nearly the entire second half of the video is devoted to the closing shot of episode 2, where Hong Doo Shik catches Yoon Hye Jin in his arms as she slips on the rocks. This short scene involves filming close-ups of their hands touching, Shin Min Ah’s feet in her fancy heels, and multiple angles. As usual, they have trouble not bursting into laughter when he’s holding her in his arms. She warns him, “You better not drop me,” and after their first practice, he quips, “It feels like you don’t trust me?” The director goes in himself to directly show Kim Seon Ho what he wants, and after several attempts at this, Kim Seon Ho pleads laughingly for a reprieve.
