KeyEast Denies Park Ha Sun's Involvement In Fraud Scandal

KeyEast has firmly denied rumors linking Park Ha Sun to a man who was recently arrested on charges of fraud.

Recently, a man identified as “Mr. Kim” was arrested for fraud, joint intimidation, and joint blackmail after having allegedly pocketed billions of won (millions of dollars) in major advance investments for a nonexistent squid sales business.

Earlier this week, Son Dam Bi and Jung Ryeo Won‘s agency denied the actresses’ rumored involvement in the fraud scandal, clarifying reports about the two women having received gifts from Mr. Kim.

On September 1, KeyEast released a statement denying that Park Ha Sun had any personal involvement with Mr. Kim. The agency explained that while Park Ha Sun had once met the man while shopping around for a potential new agency before the expiration of her contract, she has never met with him since nor received any sort of gifts or financial assistance from him.

Not only did KeyEast emphasize that Park Ha Sun had never met with Mr. Kim in a personal setting, but the agency also announced that it would be taking strong legal action—both criminal and civil—against those who had created and spread such rumors online.

“We are already in the process of pressing legal charges against the YouTube channel that spread falsehoods [about Park Ha Sun],” stated KeyEast. “We have also already gathered quite a bit of evidence of these criminal acts through online community posts and comments, and using this evidence, we will proceed to not only press criminal charges against those who have spread falsehoods, but also take all civil legal action possible against them for psychological and economic damages.”

Hello, this is KeyEast.

We are making an official statement regarding our actress Park Ha Sun. 

Recently, false reports and groundless posts about Park Ha Sun related to “fraudulent entrepreneur Kim” have been spreading on online communities and social media. Therefore, we are making this statement to clarify the truth, and we are also informing you that we will be taking strong legal action against those who defame Park Ha Sun’s character by creating, spreading, or amplifying false rumors.

Around the end of 2020, when Park Ha Sun’s contract with our agency was expiring and she was debating whether to renew her contract, a former manager who had left the agency introduced Mr. Kim to her as a major investor in a new management agency. Although [Park Ha Sun] did meet Mr. Kim while being accompanied by this former manager, this was simply one step in her process of researching many different management agencies. We are definitively stating that after this [initial meeting], Park Ha Sun never met Mr. Kim one-on-one or had any sort of personal interaction with him. Additionally, she never received any gifts or any financial gain whatsoever from Mr. Kim.

In spite of this, people are currently creating and spreading groundless rumors on online communities and social media that Park Ha Sun received either money or gifts from Mr. Kim and that she met him in a personal setting. Writing and spreading malicious posts attacking someone’s character and defaming Park Ha Sun by spreading falsehoods online are serious criminal acts in violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc. that are considered libel in the eyes of the law, and they can be grounds for criminal punishment, including imprisonment.

In order to protect our actress Park Ha Sun, our agency will be adopting a zero-tolerance policy as we respond to these sorts of criminal acts with firm legal action, without any leniency or settlements. We are already in the process of pressing legal charges against the YouTube channel that spread falsehoods [about Park Ha Sun] for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc. We have also already gathered quite a bit of evidence of these criminal acts through online community posts and comments, and using this evidence, we will proceed to not only press criminal charges against those who have spread falsehoods, but also take all civil legal action possible against them for psychological and economic damages.

We hope that you will immediately cease all acts that defame Park Ha Sun, such as creating or spreading false rumors that attack her character.
