STAYC Triples Personal 1st-Week Album Sales Record With "STEREOTYPE"
STAYC accomplished an impressive achievement with their latest album “STEREOTYPE“!
According to Hanteo Chart on September 13, the group’s new mini album “STEREOTYPE” sold 114,203 copies in the first week (September 6 to September 12).
On the first day of the album’s release, STAYC sold 43,617 copies, surpassing their previous personal best of 35,518 copies sold for their second single “STAYDOM” in just one day. The final total of 114,203 copies is over three times their previous record.
This makes them the first and only girl group that debuted in 2020 to have sold over 100,000 copies of an album in the first week. The feat was achieved within 10 months of their debut, which makes their record even more prominent.
Furthermore, STAYC is now ranked in eight place following BLACKPINK, IZ*ONE, TWICE, Red Velvet, ITZY, MAMAMOO, and (G)I-DLE for girl groups with the highest first-week album sales.
Immediately after the song’s release, “STEREOTYPE” also rose to the top of Bugs’s realtime chart, landing STAYC’s first No. 1 on a music streaming chart. The song also placed high on Korea’s other major music streaming sites such as Melon, Genie, and FLO.
STAYC is a six-member girl group under producer Black Eyed Pilseung’s label HIGH-UP Entertainment. The group debuted last November with “SO BAD,” and they made their first comeback in April with their second single “STAYDOM” and accompanying title track “ASAP.” “STEREOTYPE” is the group’s first release in five months since “STAYDOM.”
Congratulations to STAYC!
