MAMAMOO Talks About Preparing For Their Compilation Album, How They Hope It'll Be Remembered, And More

MAMAMOO has released their best-of compilation album “I SAY MAMAMOO: THE BEST”!

The compilation album features new versions of their past hits, hidden tracks, and a cheerful new song for their fans titled “mumumumuch,” for a total of 23 songs. Ahead of the album’s release, the MAMAMOO members sat down for an interview to discuss the seventh anniversary of their debut, as well as the new album.

Regarding the new release, Solar commented, “We’ve worked really hard these past seven years. It feels like we’ve created another good memory for my fellow members who worked hard by my side and our trusty companions MooMoo [MAMAMOO’s official fan club], so I feel thankful.”

Wheein added, “It’s an album that lets us look back on MAMAMOO’s past seven years. While we were preparing the album, I felt so happy and proud to be able to recall our memories with MooMoo.”

For their recommendations from the album, Solar picked “mumumumuch,” and Moonbyul chose their new version of “Paint Me.” Moonbyul explained, “I really like the arrangement. And when I listen to it, I think of our concert, so I feel excited and I begin to miss it.”

Hwasa also talked about their preparations, saying, “As always, we prepared without regret while doing our best. Although they are songs that have already been released, we had the mindset that we were recording them for the first time. While we were recording, I re-recorded a lot of parts because my tone has changed a lot since our debut. When I was monitoring the recordings, I thought that I had matured a lot.”

When asked how they hope this album will be remembered in the future, Hwasa answered, “This best-of album is like a gift to us too. It’s almost like an early Christmas present. It feels like that because it’s so jam-packed with a wide variety of things. I want to feel the joy and excitement of unwrapping this gift with many other people, and I hope that memory lasts for a long, long time.”

To conclude, Moonbyul shared a message to their fans, commenting, “I want to sincerely say thank you for watching over MAMAMOO’s growth and being with us for the past seven years. I think that MAMAMOO has now finished one lap of a seven-year track and is back at the starting line. I hope you watch over this new start with the same affectionate gaze.”
